• Merit Scholarship - are available for academic achievement
• Scholarships based on financial need - allocated by AFS Hong Kong, based on finanical need. Candidates and their families must apply formally and provide financial documentation

As part of any scholarship awarded to students, AFS:

• Retains responsibility for the selection of students, host families and placements made
• Retain responsibility to arrange the school placement and assist the student in selecting the appropriate courses of study
• Monitors the student's experiences and provides necessary support and counseling
• Expects all scholarship recipients to write home to the donor throughout the experience
• Expects the students to comply an follow all AFS guidelines and rules during the experience as outlined in the participation agreement

Corporate Scholarships

Corporate Scholarships include all direct program costs including international travel, medical care and insurance (except eye care and pre-existing conditions), orientation and enrichment activates during the AFS experience, school enrollment. Many candidates apply for scholarships each year but unfortunately not everyone can be given one. Even though you might not be awarded a scholarship you might still decide to participate on an AFS Program.

Financial Assistance

AFS oversees a limited pool of financial aid, and distributes it to students in need based on their financial situation.

Depending on the amount of funds raised annually, AFS gives partial and full scholarships based on financial need. All candidates must apply formally and prove financial details. Please contact AFS for more details.

 

AFS offers over 40 different scholarships to deserving students. Most scholarships full cover the full participation fee, but some are partial scholarships and to specific destinations. These are different kinds of scholarships available such as:

• Corporate Scholarships - if you parents work for a company that sponsors AFS, if you are selected to participatge you may receive a scholarship from you parent's employer.
