The AFS Vision is for "Cultural Exchange" to be accepted as an essential and relevant element of Hong Kong society and education. International learning will be valued and recognized as highly as other forms of education.

AFS recognizes that there are many travel agencies and profit making companies offering exchange programmes to schools. What makes AFS different is the emphasis on education and school involvement, the host family experience, the organization's roots of volunteerism and our non-profit management.

AFS host families are not paid, rather they volunteer to host. AFS Hong Kong provides over 50% of its students sent abroad with some amount of financial assistance as we are committed to socio-economic diversity. Schools are AFS' partner as without the school component, AFS could not provide a true intercultural programme for this age group.

AFS in Hong Kong offers programmes to teachers and educators( line to program details) - both for the short and/or long term. Both programmes include a host family stay. AFS is working to fundraise to keep the costs for educators to a minimum. Please request a fact sheet from the office for more details.

We joined the AFS Hosting programme two years ago and find that it broadens our own HKG students' minds in respect to hospitality and acceptance.
