The Information We Collect
AFS does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly provided by such individuals. AFS collects information from our users at several different points on our Website, specifically in Find a Friend, Feedback Forum, the AFS Mail Lists, and the Research Network in the Global Classroom section.
AFS Find a Friend allows you to post your name and e-mail address so that other AFS friends and family can contact you. You can delete, update or correct this information at any time by going into your entry and logging on with your User ID which is the e-mail address you register with and the password you select.
How the Information is Used
AFS Find a Friend is provided to allow members of the AFS Family to stay connected. We sometimes use non-personally identifiable information that we collect to improve the design and content of our site, to enable us to personalize your Internet experience, analyze trends, gather broad demographic information, administer the site, and for AFS purposes that may include, but not limited to, for AFS Partners to contact the AFS Returnees from their countries.
AFS does not otherwise provide, sell, or lease your personally identifiable information to any third parties, unless states at the time of collection. However, when you voluntarily disclose personally identifiable information (such as your first and last name, e-mail address) in Find a Friend or the AFS Mail Lists, that information can be collected and used by others and may result in unsolicited messages from other posters. AFS is not responsible for who may contact you by using this information.
Registering in Find a FriendAll registration is voluntary. The only people listed in Find a Friend are those who have registered themselves here. AFS does not add individuals to the database therefore if you do not find your AFS friend in Find a Friend it is because they have not registered themselves. Log on ID: Your e-mail address will be your log on identification name.

The system requires the use of a password, which is your e-mail address along with a password you select. When you make a change to your record, please note that the user name is your e-mail address and the password you selected.
